Buying guide

Kegerator, keg fridge or mini keg: whatโ€™s the difference?

A kegerator is simply a fridge that holds kegs under gas pressure and pours them through a tap. Commercial units are built around 50L kegs and cost accordingly. A mini kegerator does the same thing with smaller 10L kegs โ€” small enough to fit a bar fridge you already own, light enough to carry to a party.

Will it fit my fridge?

Two 10L kegs side by side with the regulator and gas connected take up about 36cm of width, 17.5cm of depth and 56cm of height. Most standard bar fridges fit them with the shelves removed.

Drill or no drill?

The standard Mini Kegerator Kit pours from push-button taps on the kegs inside the fridge โ€” open the door, push, pour. If you want taps on the outside, the upgrade adds premium stainless taps through the door (two holes).

Off-grid?

The Kings Kegerator Kit converts a 12V upright or chest fridge, with a click-on tap for chest-fridge lids so the fridge can still slide in and out of the 4WD.

Gas

Every kit runs on the iKegger 2.0 multi-gas mini regulator. Use disposable CO2 bulbs, swap-and-go SodaStream bottles via the adapter, or a refillable cylinder for big-volume pouring.

Questions

Frequently asked

Will it fit in my bar fridge?

Two 10L kegs with gas connected need roughly 36cm wide, 17.5cm deep and 56cm tall inside the fridge. Most standard bar fridges fit them once the shelves are out.

Do I need to drill my fridge?

Not for the standard Mini Kegerator Kit โ€” the kegs pour inside the fridge. The upgrade with external stainless taps needs two holes in the door.

What gas does a kegerator use?

CO2 for beer and soda, nitrogen or nitrous oxide for nitro drinks. The regulator works with disposable bulbs, SodaStream bottles (adapter required) or refillable cylinders.

Can I put a 50L pub keg in it?

A 50L keg needs a big fridge, but the Keg Tapping Kit will tap it โ€” with A, D or S-type couplers to suit most Australian brewery kegs.
